Barnsley Accordion Newsletters June 2004 written by chairman Peter Hinchliffe

June   MEETING

Hello All

22 people were in attendance at our May meeting concert night, when we were entertained by our old friend Bill Chocrane, who played both piano and button key accordions , he started his session playing his Midi keyboard accordion, through an Orla expander, then continued his performance on the button accordion on which he played a varied selection of  tunes, popular and classical accordion music

Then our fellow member Alan Bunting, who takes accordion lessons from Bill, followed on with a brilliant performance of playing the guitar and singing, he has a good voice and I understand he is very much in demand as a country and western singer on the clubs circuit in and around South Yorkshire. Thanks Alan you put on a good show for us which we all enjoyed, even customers in the games room bar offered their compliments

Apologies for not being able to attend the concert night meeting had been received from Alex, Terry and John Nutbrown, prior to the meeting, nevertheless there was a good turnout of members old and new, and a few fresh faces present. We  have not had the company of John Bartnick or Steve Bognar and his wife at our recent meetings, it would be nice to see them at the next meeting. John Kenyon took on the job of collecting members signing in fees, and Maureen and Jan assisted by selling raffle tickets, for the various prizes donated by members in attendance on the night.

Accordion Tuition Possibilities

Chris Collins from Batley and his wife were at the meeting and Chris supplied me with a brochure from Leeds musical college, giving details of a course learn to play the accordion for beginners and improvers, anyone interested can give Chris a ring on  01924-477631who will be pleased to supply any further information required.

Alex has suggested that at the next meeting he will be willing to give tuition to any members on how to start facing up to or improve on playing the bass side of the accordion. Also I have come across a video tape featuring  Joey Miskulin, an american country and western accordionist teaching accordion styles and techniques, which I would like to show as well, there are lots of tips on how to improve your playing ability for learners and accomplished players of the accordion.

Sad News from Derbyshire

Stuart had a telephone call from Mrs Smith the wife of Eric, the taller one of the two Erics from Derbyshire,to say that he recently had a heart  attack,  sadly, I have been informed by our fellow member Geoff Wright, that Eric has passed away. He will be greatly missed by all. Our thoughts and sympathy are with Mrs Smith in her grievous loss.

Our regards and best wishes are also sent to Maureen Wright, who is back in hospital after an operation she had since our last meeting, get well soon

A Roland Electronic Accordion Demonstration in November

Regarding the Roland V-accordion, confirmation has been received from the Roland company, that they will provide a demonstration of their new accordion on the occasion of our club meeting Wed 3-11-04. Romano Viazzani will conduct the demonstration which takes approximately 45 minutes, please take note of this, invite anyone who is interested in the accordion to come along to the meeting.

Looking forward to seeing you all at our next meeting, on Wednesday  7-7-04.

Best Wishes

Peter Hinchliffe

Anyone out there got any info for this accordionist?
Dear sir
Can you assist me please. I have purchased a clinkscale electric accordion on ebay 1970s model np series I believe. It was sold without a foot pedal or cables.!!! and so it cannot be used. the seller says he has spent my money and says get stuffed.take me to court if you like!!!. Does any of your members know where I might be able to obtain a pedal. I believe the accordion was made by Crucianelli of Italy , but they may be out of business. Can you also tell me the importance of the pedal I thought it was just a volume control. I do hope you can help me.
Kindest regards
Alan Fry a very disappointed player
