Barnsley Accordion Newsletters August 2006 written by chairman Peter Hinchliffe

NOVEMBER MEETING 2006

Dear  Members,

We had a very good attendance to our meeting earlier this month November when we fully intended to concentrate on getting our

Christmas Carol programme sorted and ready for the Christmas Party meeting, which is next week but, Alan failed to attend, we think he was either on his way, or preparing for the journey to the accordion festival at Caister. Because Alan was not in attendance Alex found it necessary to make temporary alterations to the programme that he has arranged which complicated matters, and confused some of the members.

I received a telephone call about a week ago from a member of the Chester Accordion Club wanting to know when he would be getting his Caister mug (pot) as he had paid for it.  I told him that I had no idea what he was talking about, and he also told me that he had been to our club a few years ago, then he mentioned an address at Darton and now I can only assume that he had got my telephone number mixed up with the number of the person selling the mugs.

The March Hare, information available on the web indicates that this piece of music is an original composition by Philip Green written for the film of the same name around 1960, even though it sounds like a traditional Irish hornpipe.

May I remind you fellow members that annual subscriptions are due for 2007, and renewal of membership cards for the Barnsley Trades Club have to be completed  by the 14 -1 -07. So please help Terry the treasurer, by handing in membership cards with subscriptions as soon as possible.

Christmas Party Concert

Pearl Fawcett-Adriano is the guest artiste booked to entertain us at our Christmas Party on Wednesday  6-12-06.

Obviously we are to take food in for the buffet as we did at the last concert, but as it is the xmas party, seasonal food will be appreciated and most welcome. The Trades Club will be open at 7.00 pm, concert admission charges as usual,

Members are asked on this occasion to occupy seating as near the stage as possible, so looking forward to seeing all of you with your wives, partners and friends on Wednesday next when we shall all have a good time, and see and hear the brilliant Pearl Fawcett-Adriano play the accordion for us.

Best Wishes

 Peter
